L.E.O (Love Equals Omnipotence) - Divine Right Always Withstanding Side C (W.I.N. Vol. 3) (Album) (2020)

Interview with Aztech of Hybrid Thoughts

Peace Aztech, Can you tell who you are and what you do for the people that don't know you?
Peace! Well I am an MC and member of the Boston/Japan based Hip Hop group Hybrid Thoughts.

How long have you been making music?
2020 marks my 22nd year making music.

What kind of artists inspire you? Who were your sources of inspiration when you started?
These days pretty much every kind of artist, everyone from Wu-Tang to Brian Wilson. When I started, artists like Wu, Outkast, Nas, Canibus..your typical Golden Era/90's shit.

You came a long way and even made it to soundtracks! How did that happened?
Well in 2019, my group Hybrid Thoughts released an album "Monolog Presents Hybrid Thoughts" exclusively in Japan. So from that point we made alot of what we released Japan based. Our producer Yuki Kanesaka, works closely with Toho Animation. So that's where the connection came. So far we have appeared on soundtracks for Kekkai Sensen and Beyond, and Dr. Stone, which is now on Adult Swim.

What are your future plans? Can we expect some albums in the near future?
Definitely. In 2020 you can expect a project of some sort from Hybrid Thoughts.

You also play in a band right? What is your role in the band and can you tell me some about about what you guys do?
My group Hybrid Thoughts was originally formed in 2001. The members have changed up quite a bit, with me always kind of being at core. Current core member are myself, Kasper, Yuki Kanesaka, Saucy Lady and Paranom.

Are there any names you wanna work with in the future?
Way too many to name. But I've yet to work with Tragedy Khadafi, so I would love to make that happen this year. Also hope to collaborate with Erykah Badu in the future.
